Request the coverage end date

Ask HR or the insurer whether cover ends on the last working day, contract end date, visa cancellation or another date under the policy.

Download policy information

Save the insurance card, policy number, network, approvals and claim contacts before company access ends.

Plan the next coverage

A new employer, family sponsor or individual policy may provide the next cover. Avoid assuming the new policy begins immediately.

Manage ongoing treatment

Check authorisations, prescriptions, maternity or chronic-care arrangements and whether treatment must be completed before cover ends.

Questions to ask HR or payroll

  1. What exact date does coverage end?
  2. Can I obtain a certificate of insurance?
  3. When does new coverage begin?
  4. Are current approvals still valid?
  5. What happens to pending claims?

Frequently asked questions

Does health insurance continue through the visa grace period?

Not automatically. Insurance coverage is governed by the policy and local requirements, not simply the immigration grace period.

Is health insurance paid in final settlement?

Usually it is a coverage issue rather than a cash settlement line, unless the contract or arrangement creates a specific payment.

Who can confirm the end date?

Ask both HR and the insurer or administrator and keep the written response.
